* Frequently Asked Questions about Winter 2022 Econ 3

Is attendance at discussion sections mandatory?

No.     However, it is highly recommended that you regularly attend discussion sections. As long as there is excess capacity, you may attend any of the discussion sections associated with either of the Econ 3 lectures.

Will there be a remote course option for the class?

No.     However, I plan to video podcast all lectures and to assign any homework online through Canvas. Thus, in principle you can obtain most of the materials online.

However, the two midterms and the final will be held in person.

I am on the waitlist. What is my chance of getting into the class?

Unfortunately, I do not know. I am so sorry about the long waitlists. It appears that the university underforecasted the enrollment for the course and assigned both lectures to a lecture hall that is too small. The economics department staff has been trying to find a bigger lecture hall, but with no success so far. We are also looking into the possibility of allowing some over-enrollment in the course (since normal attendance at lectures is typically less than 90%) and using overflow rooms for exams.
All I can advise is for you to keep monitoring the waitlist. If we have success in finding another room or allowing over-enrollment, you should see the effect on the waitlist.
