Note that the initial proposal is due on Thursday of the fourth week (April 22). You need the following:

1. The project title.

2. A brief statement of the problem you plan to study including whether it is a time series or cross section study.

3. A literature review of papers/books you have studied (3 to 4 pages of each should do).

4. A list of the variables clearly identifying the dependent variable and all the initial dependent variables you are going to try to find data on. For each variable, identify the data sources.

5. A brief description of why you believe that each independent variable has a causal effect on the dependent variable [see application section 4.7 for an example].

DON'T AGONIZE TOO MUCH OVER THIS. THE PROPOSAL IS JUST THAT AND IS NOT THE FINAL THING. YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO REVISE IT FOR THE FINAL PAPER. YOUR FINAL GRADE WILL NOT DEPEND ON THIS PROPOSAL BUT ON THE FINAL TERM PAPER.
