Information about the first mid-term exam
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first midterm examination is on Thursday, April 23, 1998. Here
are some guidelines for it.

Since I have covered all the basics, class lectures will cover a lot of
topics in a short time. This means you will have plenty of reading to
do. So start early.

WHAT TO STUDY:
Although Chapter 3 and 4 materials are fundamental, the focus of the
exam will be on Chapters 5, 6, and that part of 7 that I cover in class
and applications in these chapters that I did not cover in class.
Try all the Practice Problems. The Appendix has answers to those marked
by a dagger. Answers to remaining practice problems are available from
Soft Reserves. Also try the end of chapter exercises with daggers and
verify your answers. I have sent to Soft Reserves exam questions and
answers from last year's Econ 120B (which is now Econ 120C).

WHAT TO BRING:
A SINGLE 6 inch by 4 inch index card or paper on which you should copy
down all formulas and any other information you think you would want to
reference. NOTE THAT YOU NOT ALLOWED TO BRING THE EXAM #1 INDEX CARD AND
A NEW ONE. PREPARE A SINGLE NEW ONE COVERING ALL CHAPTERS.

A basic calculator. If you bring a solar calculator sit under a light.

Previous rules about writing in pencil apply now also.
