Econ 120B, Fall 2003, Homework #1, Due October 22, 2003

This assignment is due at the beginning of class. Papers turned in at the end of the class will have a 10% percent penalty. No papers will be accepted after class.

As before, form a team of no more than three people and submit a paper jointly. However, each of you should do the exercise and then compare notes. If you divide it up, you will not learn the methodology very well. That will affect how you do in the exams.

Do Exercises 3.5, 3.11, and 3.30. In Exercise 3.11, Part b, you NEED NOT prove consistency, just unbiasedness. In Exercise 3.30, Part e, in the last column of the table, delete the lines for ESS* and TSS*, just do the other two.
