Biography
Julie Berry Cullen is Professor of Economics at the University of California, San Diego. She is also Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and CESifo Research Network Fellow. Previously she was a faculty member at the University of Michigan, a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Scholar, and held a visiting position at Northwestern University. She received her Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 and her B.A. from Stanford University in 1989, and completed a tour as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala in between.
Cullen's primary field of research is public economics, with specializations in the economics of education, fiscal federalism and behavioral responses to taxation and social insurance. Her research has been published in leading journals such as American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Econometrica, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics and Review of Economics and Statistics.
