Research Interests

My research on U.S. federal procurement intersects public economics, macroeconomics, and political economics. The goal of my research agenda is to uncover inefficiencies in public procurement. U.S. federal contract spending accounts for 14% of the federal budget and 3% of GDP. My research addresses three components of the federal procurement landscape integral to analyzing inefficiencies: the effects of procurement spending on local economies, the information gateways for politically-motivated distortions to Congress’ funding decisions, and the regulatory drivers of procurement efficiency.
